Our Hedge Rates - Published, Not Whispered
Every hedge quote we write uses the same two numbers, in writing, before a shovel goes in: $25 per 3 gallon plant and $50 per 7 gallon plant, delivered and planted. Prefer to plant it yourself? Delivered-only loads are quoted from your plant list.
$500 minimum on plant orders. Irrigation work and removal of an old hedge are itemized separately on the written quote. Landscapers and property managers get a 10% trade discount through the Palm & Plant Co trade program.

Four Hedges That Actually Work in SW Florida
Same planted rate for all four. The difference is what the plant does for you: privacy, formality, tropical screening, or a low green line in front of the house.
Clusia
Clusia guttifera
The default SW Florida privacy hedge. Thick paddle leaves, dense growth, and it shrugs off canal-front wind and spray. Trim once or twice a year and it stays a wall.

The tropical pool screen. Clumping, feathery, and fast once established. Needs consistent irrigation and a little fertilizer to stay green, so it is the one hedge we will not plant on a dead zone.

The 30-day warranty is tied to irrigation for a reason. A hedge plant in SW Florida sand has no reserve; if a head is capped or a zone is dead, the plant is browning before you notice. We check that every plant on the line is getting water before we leave, and if the system needs work we quote it with the hedge so both are done the same day.

How much does a clusia hedge cost planted in Cape Coral?
Our published rate is $25 per 3 gallon plant and $50 per 7 gallon plant, delivered and planted by our Palm & Plant Co crew. A 50 foot privacy run in 7 gallon clusia at 3 feet on center is 17 plants, or $850 planted. The same run in 3 gallon clusia at 2.5 feet on center is 20 plants, or $500. Plant orders carry a $500 minimum. Irrigation work and removal of an old hedge are itemized separately on your written quote.
Should I buy 3 gallon or 7 gallon hedge plants?
3 gallon is the budget path: smaller plants at half the price that fill in over a couple of growing seasons. 7 gallon gives you a hedge that reads as a hedge the day we leave and closes the gaps faster. Both sizes plant at the same spacing rules for their plant type, so the difference is time and money, not the final result. If the hedge is blocking a neighbor or a road, most people choose 7 gallon; for a back property line you can wait on, 3 gallon wins.
How far apart do you plant hedge plants?
Clusia goes in at 2.5 feet on center for 3 gallon and 3 feet for 7 gallon. Podocarpus is tighter, 2 feet for 3 gallon and 2.5 to 3 feet for 7 gallon, because it stays narrow. Areca palms are set 3 to 4 feet on center since each clump spreads. Green island ficus is 2 feet on center for a low foundation hedge. What does the 30-day warranty cover?
Any plant we deliver and plant that fails within 30 days is replaced at no charge, provided the bed has working irrigation that reaches every plant. We check coverage when we plant and tell you on the spot if a head or drip line is not doing its job. The warranty does not apply to delivered-only material, to beds without irrigation, or to plants damaged by mowers, pets, or storms.
Can I just have the plants delivered and plant them myself?
Yes. Delivered-only orders come from the same nursery stock and are quoted by the load based on your plant list. You handle the digging and watering, and there is no planting warranty on delivered-only material.
Which hedge is best for a Cape Coral canal lot?
Clusia. It handles salt spray, wind, and the fast-draining sandy fill under most Cape Coral lots, and it needs the least water of the four once established. Podocarpus works well on the street side or between houses where spray does not reach. Areca palms make the best tropical pool screen but need irrigation and feeding. Green island ficus is a foundation plant, not a privacy plant, and does its job along the front of the house.
