Topiary Trees, Delivered and Planted in SW Florida

Topiary trees are evergreen shrubs clipped into spirals, balls and other shapes, and in SW Florida they do best in sun with steady water and regular trimming. They suit formal entries, courtyards and pots beside a door. We deliver and plant 7 gallon topiary and 15 gallon spiral and ball trees.

Light:
Full sun to part shade; at least six hours of sun keeps most of them dense
Water:
Low to moderate; steady moisture while new, and good drainage
Salt:
Varies with the plant; treat as low to moderate and keep off direct spray

Where Topiary Trees works in a SW Florida yard

Use topiary in matching pairs flanking a front door, gate or garage, or as a single focal point in a courtyard, with ball forms for a classic look and spirals for added height. Keep the surroundings simple: a clean mulch bed or a low border of mondo grass or liriope lets the sculpted shape stand out, and white flowers such as gardenia will not compete with it.

  • Formal entry planting
  • Pairs flanking a door
  • Courtyard focal points
  • Large container accents

How our crew plants it

Plant at the same depth as the container, in a hole 2 to 3 times as wide, on well-drained ground. Stake 15 gallon spirals and balls loosely for the first year, and set pairs on matching centers 3 to 4 ft off the wall.

Mulch off the stem, water in, and use the extra watering Lee and Collier allow on new plantings before tapering.

Care after planting

  • Trim lightly every month or two in the growing season to hold the shape, since small, frequent cuts beat one hard cut.
  • Avoid cutting back into bare, leafless wood, which may not regrow on many evergreens.
  • Feed in spring and early fall with a slow-release fertilizer, and skip nitrogen and phosphorus from June 1 to September 30 in Lee County, Naples and Marco Island.
  • Water on your assigned days, and expect potted topiary to dry out faster and need extra.

What to watch for

  • Dense, clipped foliage hides scale, mites and aphids, so look inside the canopy whenever you trim.

Topiary Trees questions we hear

How often do I need to trim a topiary tree in Florida?+

Plan on a light trim every month or two during the growing season, roughly spring through early fall, to keep the shape crisp. Growth slows in winter. Small, frequent cuts keep the form tight, while one hard cut can leave bare patches that are slow to fill.

Can topiary trees live in full sun in SW Florida?+

Yes, most do best in full sun to part shade, with at least six hours of sun to stay dense. Sun and reflected heat dry the root ball fast, so water new plants often. In deep shade a topiary turns open and leggy and loses its shape.

How much does it cost to plant a topiary tree?+

Price depends on the size and shape you choose, a 7 gallon topiary or a 15 gallon spiral or ball, and on how many you want. Send the address and what you have in mind by text, and a planted price comes back, usually within the hour in the daytime. Half down holds the trees and a delivery day.
