Ground Covers and Vines We Deliver and Plant

Ground covers and vines finish a bed: perennial peanut and Asiatic jasmine where grass struggles, blue daze and liriope for clean edges, and confederate jasmine or mandevilla on a fence or trellis. These are the ones we deliver and plant across SW Florida, with spacing and care notes so a bed fills in instead of washing out.

Common questions

What is the best ground cover instead of grass in Florida?+

Perennial peanut, Asiatic jasmine and sunshine mimosa are proven grass alternatives here. Perennial peanut handles sun, Asiatic jasmine takes shade, and sunshine mimosa is a Florida native. None of them take heavy foot traffic the way turf does.

How far apart do you plant ground cover?+

Most 1 gallon ground covers go about 12 to 18 inches apart for a bed that fills in within a season or two. Spacing varies by plant, so each plant page lists what we use.
